Groups Send Abortion Pills to Areas with Bans

(ProsperNews.net) – Organizations and groups are sending abortion pills to states that have legislated strict prohibitions and restrictions. The groups existed before the Dobbs ruling in the Supreme Court that overturned Roe v Wade and allowed states to restrict or ban abortion, but they have increased their efforts and expanded their outreach in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling.

Idaho has enacted some of the strictest laws in the United States, so it is a focus for groups such as Idaho Abortion Rights. One of its activists, Kimra Luna, recently stood on the front steps of the state legislature to show Idahoan women the pills in question and assure them they were safe. Luna swallowed the tablet while an audience watched. “This is a pill. It’s very little, and anybody in Idaho can get access to it,” she said.

Abortion is banned in the Gem State with exceptions only in cases of rape or incest or if the mother’s life is threatened. The Idaho Abortion Rights group said the ban has not stopped people from obtaining abortions in the state. “The reality is that most Idahoans are getting access to abortion pills online, and many are managing their abortions safely at home,” Luna said.

Plan C is a web resource that tells people how they can obtain abortion pills regardless of what state they live in. The site has a link button labeled “Find abortion pills,” and when clicked, the user is asked to choose a state. For Idaho, it provides four main options. There is a telehealth service that sends abortion pills in the post for $150, community support networks that can send pills free of charge, there are websites listed that sell abortion pills but without clinician support for $47, and the final option is to travel out of Idaho to a neighboring state.

Plan C provides links to two sites, AbortionFinder.org and INeedAnA.com, which can help find the closest abortion clinic for residents of Idaho.
