(ProsperNews.net) – A Virginia Democrat, who narrowly lost an election to the House of Delegates, has complained about the publication of an adult video she participated in, saying it is an invasion of her privacy. Susanna Gibson engaged in intimate acts with her husband on camera and streamed these live to a website. A video recording later emerged, having been uncovered by her GOP rival, and now Gibson says she did not intend for her contribution to the adult site to be recorded or distributed.

Speaking to Politico, Gibson said when she realized the videos had been published, she experienced a feeling she “would not wish on her worst enemy.” She said Republicans found the videos on the “dark web” and then sold them on to various news outlets during the election campaign. Gibson insists she had no idea that the clips had been uploaded to several adult sites, and she hired an attorney to consider her legal options.

The attorney said that while the candidate and her husband voluntarily participated in an adult site that offers “tips” on intimacy, she did not consent to the recording and distribution of the video, meaning she was the victim of a crime. “Just because someone consented to share something in one particular context doesn’t mean that it is or should be fair game for the whole world to see,” the lawyer stated.

Away from politics, Susanna Gibson is a nurse practitioner who provides primary care to patients at home. On her campaign website, she wrote of the “intersectionality” of health care with “environmental justice” and “discrimination” and how these are affected by policy and legislation.

Ms. Gibson would eventually lose the election race to Republican David Owen in one of the most competitive districts in Virginia. Commentators suggested her campaign was doomed when the controversial videos came to light, but Gibson refused to stand down and accused her opponents of dirty tactics. Owen won by less than 1,000 votes.
