(ProsperNews.net) – According to the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Christopher Wray, the threat of a potential domestic terror attack against United States citizens is at a “whole other level” due to the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel. According to Wray, the attack on Israel by Hamas might embolden militant extremists in the United States to commit a similar attack, harming United States citizens.
Wray claims the FBI is focusing on monitoring potential domestic terror threats, but so far, the incidents stemming from the Hamas-Israel conflict lack the widespread terrorism element. Wray also said that numerous terrorist organizations in the Middle East are calling for attacks against the United States, sparking fears that militant groups with ties to the Middle East will attack a target in the United States. Although the fear of a large-scale attack is a focus of the FBI, Wray claims attacks by individuals or small groups are also a cause for concern. One such attack occurred just days after the war between Israel and Hamas began, causing the death of a six-year-old.
The attack occurred in Illinois and resulted in the wounding of a mother and the death of her six-year-old son. The accused murderer is Joseph Czuba, a 71-year-old who allegedly stabbed the child and his mother because of their religious beliefs. The two victims were Muslim, and authorities are charging Czuba with a religious hate crime. According to authorities, Czuba attacked the boy’s mother after she requested he pray for peace between Israel and Palestine, prompting Czuba to stab the two in retaliation. Czuba injured the mother but fatally stabbed her son, prompting authorities to charge the elderly man with murder and committing a hate crime. If convicted for the heinous acts, Czuba will likely die behind bars. Czuba’s alleged crime is the latest in a growing string of religiously motivated violence, a trend that Wray warns will likely increase in the coming weeks.
Although Wray warns that national security is compromised and Americans are vulnerable to a terrorist attack, so far, an attack by a terrorist organization hasn’t occurred. The FBI is vigilantly monitoring national channels for any indication of a planned attack but isn’t announcing if the Bureau intercepted any planned assaults or not. Wray’s comments come as the war between Hamas and Israel enters its second month, sparking concern that the conflict will last for the foreseeable future.
