(ProsperNews.net) – An ex-lawmaker is warning that Donald Trump’s criticisms of prosecutors could increase the threat of violence against them. Former Justice Department Inspector General Michael Bromwich said Trump’s “attacks” on prosecutors, including Fulton County’s Fani Willis, are “unprecedented and extremely dangerous.” Bromwich also criticized Republican Congressman Jim Jordan for launching investigations into the activities of prosecutors and denouncing the “weaponization” of the federal government against conservative Americans.
Jordan, who leads the House Judiciary Committee, launched a probe into Fani Willis after she indicted President Trump and called her charges a political witch hunt. His investigation will look into whether Willis coordinated and consulted with federal officials, including Special Counsel Jack Smith, to determine the details of Trump’s indictment.
In a statement, Mr. Jordan said Willis’s actions “implicate substantial federal interests” and “raise serious concerns about whether such actions are politically motivated.”
Jordan also requested that the Department of Justice supply all documents related to Jack Smith’s investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents.
House Republicans launched their “weaponization” committee in January this year and said its work is to investigate the investigators and alert the American public to political bias in federal agencies, including the FBI and the Department of Justice. Republican Rep. Ryan Zinke from Montana said, “We all knew politics was ugly, but we need to investigate and uncover corruption wherever it lies. It’s time to bring light to the shadows of the deep state and do our duty.”
Former President Trump has been indicted on criminal charges four times this year. He is accused of conspiring to overturn the 2020 Presidential election result and is charged with offenses including several felonies. The charges do not prevent him from running for President but could impede his ability to campaign effectively, particularly if trials occur at crucial moments in the election process. For example, his trial in Georgia is scheduled to begin the day before Super Tuesday, when most states hold primary elections.
