(ProsperNews.net) – At least five states processing votes in a general election have reported receiving threatening letters, some of which contained potentially lethal fentanyl.
The letters were the most recent incident of threats, harassment, and intimidation directed at election workers in Seattle and across the country since the 2020 presidential election. Election offices have been understaffed for years; the difficulties caused by the pandemic in the run-up to the 2020 election and the animosity that inevitably followed due to false claims of a stolen election have contributed to this.
The FBI has responded, but at this time, they cannot discuss further because the investigation is continuing. Given the time proximity, investigators treat all the letters as related. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said that election offices in various states, including Georgia’s Fulton County, have received questionable letters.
Election offices in Georgia and Washington state have been evacuated after receiving mail containing fentanyl on Tuesday’s election night. On Wednesday, white powdery substances were discovered in envelopes at the state’s election centers in Pierce, King, Spokane, and Skagit counties, prompting the evacuation of those facilities. The compounds tested positive for fentanyl in Spokane and King counties, and in at least one other case, the ingredient was baking soda.
Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger of Georgia has reported that an envelope containing fentanyl was delivered to an election office in Fulton County on election night. As a precaution, Georgia has provided all election workers with Narcan.
The US Postal Inspection Service and the FBI are looking into the matter. Until information about an investigation becomes public, the FBI will not confirm or comment on it. The drug fentanyl, which is up to 50 times more potent than heroin, is mainly responsible for the greatest overdose crisis the United States has ever seen.
Very little powder is needed to become aerosolized and produce toxicity through inhalation.
The letters urged an immediate end to elections and warned about the dangers of “ballot drops.”
The letters were decorated with pentagrams, rainbow flags, and other anti-fascist symbols.
