DeSantis Would Deport Those Celebrating Hamas if President

(ProsperNews.net) – GOP Presidential candidate Ron DeSantis said he would deport Hamas supporters from the United States. Speaking at an event in Iowa, audience members asked the Floridian Governor about recent student protests across the US where demonstrators expressed antisemitic views and open support of Hamas – a designated terrorist group.

Mr. DeSantis told his audience that many of the students involved in the spectacles are foreigners, and as such, he would cancel their visas and send them home. Fellow White House contender Tim Scott was also in attendance and said he would withhold Pell Grants from universities that permitted antisemitic demonstrations. A Pell Grant is a subsidy provided by the federal government to fund students who cannot afford university fees.

College campuses became a central battleground between the supporters of both sides of the Middle East war, with many demonstrations married by antisemitic chanting and praise for Hamas following its terror attack on Israel that left more than 1,400 civilians dead.

The elite Harvard University is notably included on the list of institutions that have lost donors because of the protests, and its failure to quickly respond to a statement published by more than 30 student groups denouncing Israel and holding it entirely responsible for violence in the region.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan is the latest to denounce Harvard and said he would no longer participate in its fellowship program because of “dangerous antisemitism” on campus. Hogan was due to start fellowships at the Kennedy School of Politics and the Chan School of Public Health next month.

Some donors have condemned the Ivy League school, and some have withdrawn or canceled funding. Stanford and the University of Pennsylvania are also struggling to contain antisemitism and are said to be among the colleges losing millions of dollars in the wake of the crisis.

Liz Magill, president of the University of Pennsylvania, condemned the attack on Israel and said, “We should have communicated faster.. about where we stand.”
