(ProsperNews.net) – Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz has called for New York Attorney General Letitia James to be investigated by the American legal profession for her campaign against Donald Trump. “She ought to be brought up before the bar,” he told Sean Hannity. Dershowitz wrote a book entitled “Get Trump” and said he called it that because that was James’ campaign slogan when she ran for office. The high-profile attorney and Trump defender said no lawyer should target an individual for prosecution.
Mr. Dershowitz spoke out after a New York civil court fined the former President over $355 million for falsely valuing his real estate empire in the Big Apple; over-valuing it for investment and loan purposes and undervaluing it for tax purposes. Additionally, interest of $98 million has already accrued and will continue to accrue until the fine is paid.
Judge Arthur Engoron further stripped Mr. Trump and his sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, of their ability to conduct business in the Empire State for three years. The former President said he will appeal and “get back to work.”
Throughout her political campaign for office, Letitia James was open about her desire to punish Donald Trump. George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley called her campaign an embarrassment after she promised to be a “pain in the a**” for the former President. Agreeing with Mr. Dershowitz’s view, Turley argued last year that it was wholly inappropriate for a prosecutor to single out an individual and said it raised “serious ethical questions.”
James’ openness about targeting Donald Trump is matched by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who also filed charges against the former President. During his DA campaign, Bragg boasted about filing suits against Trump in his previous role as New York state’s chief deputy attorney general. “I have investigated Trump and his children and held them accountable,” he said.
Bragg received $1 million from the Color of Change PAC, which is funded by left-wing billionaire George Soros.
