Dem’s Ex-Aide Arrested in FBI Corruption Scandal

(ProsperNews.net) – On Tuesday, former Deputy Chief of Staff to New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Linda Sun, and her husband, businessman Chris Hu, were arrested by the FBI, according to multiple reports. While the exact charges are currently under seal, law enforcement sources suggest the arrests are part of a corruption probe that is not connected to Governor Hochul herself.

The couple was taken into custody on Long Island, where their home had previously been raided by the FBI in July. At the time, no formal accusations had been made, though authorities were investigating their $3.5 million property, which had been placed in a trust earlier this year. Video footage from that raid shows officials entering the home with equipment, though it is unclear what, if anything, was seized during the search.

Linda Sun, who was initially hired by former Governor Andrew Cuomo before working in Hochul’s administration, has held various public positions in recent years. According to her LinkedIn profile, she most recently served as a campaign manager for Democrat Austin Cheng, who was running for New York’s 3rd Congressional District before withdrawing from the race in late 2023. Sun has also worked in several “diversity officer” roles within New York’s state government.

Reports indicate that Sun and Hu are scheduled to appear in a Brooklyn federal court. While the charges remain under seal, there are suggestions the case may involve violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). U.S. Attorney Breon Peace released a statement alleging that, while Sun appeared to be working for the state of New York, she and her husband were actually advancing the interests of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The couple is accused of enriching themselves by millions of dollars through this illicit activity.

Among the more specific accusations are claims that Sun blocked representatives from Taiwan from accessing high-level New York officials and altered the state’s messaging on issues critical to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the CCP. These serious allegations place Sun and her husband at the center of a high-profile investigation that could have far-reaching consequences.
