Court Excludes Sensitive Evidence in Hunter Biden’s Gun Trial

(ProsperNews.net) – A federal judge has barred prosecutors from using some of Hunter Biden’s past against him in his upcoming criminal trial. Members of Special Counsel David Weiss’ team had planned to introduce details about the first son’s Navy discharge and the young girl he fathered in Arkansas as evidence of questionable conduct, but Judge Maryellen Noreika ruled that prosecuting attorneys must focus only on his history of drug use.

The Judge further clarified that the prosecution must prove that the President’s son was addicted to drugs when he filled out federal gun purchase forms denying narcotics use, rather than demonstrate that he had used drugs on the day he completed the documents. She also said sections of Hunter Biden’s autobiography, in which he confesses to heavy drug use, can be submitted in evidence.

The criminal trial, scheduled to begin with jury selection on June 3, will pit the sitting President’s son against the federal government, who will try to prove that he lied on federal documents when purchasing a gun in 2018. The document asks hopeful gun owners if they are drug users, and Hunter Biden claimed he was not. However, in his book, he acknowledges crack use at around the same time. Subsequently, he is charged with two counts of making false statements and one count of illegal gun possession and faces a potentially lengthy prison term if convicted.

Analysts suggest President Biden will remain tight-lipped about the trial, but his advisors will closely watch proceedings. Biden’s team is expected to note any references to the President during the trial and decide whether or not to respond. Experts say some communications with his father will be introduced as evidence, as will intimate insights into the Biden family.

Federal government insiders add, however, that the White House has no intention of intervening or interfering and will remain “deliberately low-key” throughout the trial.

The criminal proceedings are the first ever against the child of a sitting President.
