(ProsperNews.net) – Anti-Israel protestors staged an impromptu demonstration outside the home of a Member of Congress as punishment for his “silence” on the Israel-Hamas war. Democrat Rep. Shri Thanedar, who represents Michigan’s 13th District, took to Twitter at 3 in the morning on December 18 with video clips showing protestors beeping car horns and shouting, “There will be a price to pay.”
The Congressman responded to a fellow Tweeter, Huwaida Arraf, who posted the clips under the caption, “Detroit constituents of Rep Shri Thanedar visited his house in the middle of the night to get him to #WakeTheFUp about the ongoing genocide in Palestine that he’s supporting.”
Thanedar is a staunch Israel supporter who condemned the atrocities committed against Israeli civilians on October 7. The Democrat also spoke out against antisemitism in the wake of the attack and ended his relationship with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) after it promoted an anti-Jewish rally in New York City. He described the demonstration as “hate-filled” and added that there is “no place for moral equivocation in the face of unadulterated evil.”
The Michigan Representative was one of four Democrat members of the House associated with the DSA. These are Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib from Michigan, Cori Bush of Missouri, and Greg Casar from Texas. Following the attack on Israel, a statement from DSA condemned the Jewish state and said the murder of civilians was “a direct result of Israel’s apartheid regime.”
When the organization promoted an anti-Israel rally in New York just days after the terror attack, even some left-wing lawmakers distanced themselves. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, known for taking a left-leaning stand, condemned the protest and said, “The bigotry and callousness expressed in Times Square on Sunday were unacceptable and harmful in this devastating moment.”
The DSA denied responsibility for the event, and it was promoted “at the request of a coalition partner.” Its spokesperson expressed support for “equality and justice for all Palestinians and Israelis.”
