(ProsperNews.net) – Republican Presidential hopeful Chris Christie has launched a ferocious attack on Donald Trump and said he aims to end the former President’s political career. He said Trump does not have the “character” to be President and described him as a “three-time loser.” Christie blames the former President for Republican Congressional losses in 2018 and 2020.
“Character is the single most important element of a president of the United States because you can’t know every issue that’s going to come across the President’s desk. It’s not a litmus test with checkboxes in them,” he said.
Christie took his campaign against Donald Trump to the Faith and Freedom Conference in Washington, DC, and was met with boos from the audience. He told the crowd that Trump is a man who cannot admit his mistakes and blames others when things go wrong. The former New Jersey Governor acknowledged the boos from the crowd but said he was not willing to change his message depending on who he is talking to.
A former Trump ally, Christie said he withdrew his support when Trump claimed he won the 2020 election without presenting any evidence to back up his claim.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1962, Chris Christie is a lawyer who served as US Attorney for the District of New Jersey from 2002 to 2008 having been appointed by President George W. Bush. He became Governor of New Jersey in 2010 and held that post until 2018. Since then, he has contributed to ABC News and is a registered lobbyist.
His bid for the White House in 2024 is not his first foray into Presidential-level politics. Christie ran for President in 2016 but pulled out due to a lack of support and threw his weight behind Donald Trump. He entered the current contest in early June, citing his specific intent to attack the former President despite his consistent support among the GOP rank and file.
