(ProsperNews.net) – The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is asking for public comment on draft guidelines for online activity, according to OAN. After claims that online bullying and doxing are on the rise in the country, the communist party is seeking opinions for its guidelines that will punish those who abuse the online sphere.
Cyber-attacks have reportedly targeted women and children, leading to one young mother committing suicide after people began to judge her demeanor following the death of her son when he was run over by a teacher. She proceeded to jump from a high-rise building just over a week later.
The Ministry of Public Security and the Supreme People’s Court drafted the guidelines after citing cyber violence as infringing on the rights of individuals. The cited article from OANN comes from the “Beijing Newsroom.” After typing in keywords such as, “China drafts guidelines for online abuse,” it is noticed that many other American outlets have indiscriminately posted the same article without any original reporting.
China has made inroads in foreign countries like Canada and Australia, instituting police stations to spy on Chinese targets, according to The Epoch Times. They have created 102 other posts in 53 countries to intimate and threaten their targets to face prosecution back in the mainland. While the communist country claims they use the posts for “administrative purposes,” over 200,000 nationals have already been “persuaded” to return to China.
The news comes as it was recently revealed that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was working on a project in 2018 designed to evaluate citizens’ social media, according to Summit News. The department sought to use automated technology to scan for terrorist threats, opioid distribution, and disinformation campaigns from foreign adversaries, but noted that they would try to “scale to other DHS domains,” including Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
