(ProsperNews.net) – Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) offered a stark warning during an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press about the potential consequences of a second Trump presidency. Cheney, a vocal critic of Donald Trump, cautioned that if Trump were to be re-elected, it could mean the end of the U.S. as a nation of laws.
In response to a question from host Kristen Welker, Cheney explained that Trump’s past behavior and his attitude towards the law present serious dangers. She pointed out that Trump has shown a disregard for the rulings of the courts and an unwillingness to respect the separation of powers. Cheney stressed that the courts cannot enforce their rulings on their own; they rely on the president to uphold them. If a president refuses to do so, it threatens the very foundation of a lawful society.
Cheney also expressed concerns over the types of people Trump might appoint to key positions, citing figures like Mike Flynn. She referenced a recent event where Flynn reportedly spoke in favor of executing Trump’s opponents, warning that these are the kinds of individuals Trump would bring into his administration.
Looking back at Trump’s actions on January 6, Cheney emphasized how dangerous his behavior was, describing his response as both cruel and depraved. She argued that anyone placing confidence in Trump’s leadership after that day is ignoring the seriousness of what took place.
Cheney’s remarks underline her belief that a second Trump term would not only be dangerous but could fundamentally alter the nature of American democracy.
