(ProsperNews.net) – Border Patrol chiefs say their daily apprehension rate of over 2,600 migrants exceeds President Biden’s new limits. Leaders from three sectors along the US-Mexico border, including the San Diego, Tucson, and Del Rio sectors, reported the figures during weekly recaps on Twitter. Chief Patrol Agents Patricia D. McGurk-Daniel, John Modlin, and Robert Danley cited 8,488, 7,500, and 2389 apprehensions, respectively. This adds up to 18,377 per week, or 2625 per day.
Additionally, McGurk-Daniel reported that in her sector, officers seized 30 pounds of cocaine, $8,600 currency, and 23 smuggling conveyances. There were also 160 encounters with unaccompanied minors. Mr. Modlin reported 23 smuggling events, as well as six narcotics and four weapons seizures. In the Del Rio Sector, Robert Danley reports 23 smuggling cases, 327 “gotaways,” and several criminal acts including drug possession and burglary.
Critics say the figures confirm that President Biden’s executive order will likely have little impact and, even if effective, will only minimally reduce numbers. The President issued the executive order on June 4, telling Democrats that doing nothing was not an option. The order bars asylum claims if migrant encounters average above 2,500 over seven days. Detractors argue that this is little different from the current situation and still adds up to around a million migrants per year.
Jeh Johnson, the Department of Homeland Security Secretary during the Obama administration, pointed out that 1,000 per day was considered crisis-level during his time in office.
Speaking at a rally in Arizona, Donald Trump labeled Biden’s move “bulls**t.” The former President did not use the word but signaled his agreement when the crowd shouted it repeatedly. Trump said the United States had become the “dumping ground for the dungeons of the Third World” and insisted that Joe Biden has lost control of the border and has “conceded death and defeat.”
Speculating on why the Biden administration opened the borders, Trump said he assumes the intent is to import new Democrat voters.
