(ProsperNews.net) – A teenager and her boyfriend, who went missing before Christmas, have been found dead in Texas. The 18-year-old, who was nine months pregnant, was found in a car with her boyfriend near San Antonio, and evidence suggests they had been shot. Police said the bodies were in the car three to four days before discovery.
Savanah Soto and Matthew Guerra were last seen on December 22, and Soto’s family called police when she failed to turn up to a hospital appointment – she was a week past her due date and was scheduled for induced labor. Gloria Cordova, her mother, contacted police when she was unable to locate either her daughter or her boyfriend.
On December 26, a San Antonio resident noted the couple’s Kia Optima in a parking lot and contacted the family, who reported the sighting to law enforcement. San Antonio police declared a capital murder investigation and appealed for public help in tracking down a dark pick-up truck captured on surveillance video near the Kia Optima.
San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus said the Kia was a “very, very perplexing crime scene” and added that his officers are looking for two people – one reportedly driving the dark pick-up and the other driving the Optima.
Video footage shows the two vehicles entering a parking lot in San Antonio and a person getting out of the pick-up and speaking to the occupants of the Kia. McManus said his department would do everything possible to solve the “unspeakable” case.
Gloria Cordova told CBS News reporters that she believes her daughter died because she was witness to her boyfriend’s criminal behavior. “I think it had something to do with him and things that he was doing,” she said before adding, “She was just there at the wrong time.”
Cordova and her sister described the relationship as an abusive one, saying the couple would “fight a lot.” Her mother said she told her daughter to leave the relationship, but “she wouldn’t listen.”
