Black Kids Evicted from Center to Make Room for Immigrants

(ProsperNews.net) – Officials have closed down a community center in a predominantly black area of Boston to house illegal immigrants, prompting fury from residents. Roxbury’s Melnea A. Cass Recreational Community Center, used primarily for children’s sports, has been transformed into accommodation for migrants. Local kid Jeremiah Rodriguez told reporters that he turned up for batting practice and was crushed to find the facility was no longer available. His father said he understands the desire to help the immigrants, but it should not happen at the expense of children who already have very little.

Roxbury is almost entirely black and Latino and has a median income far lower than most of Boston. A black community activist, Clifton Braithwaite, said he is disgusted by the decision and finds it infuriating that for years, Boston politicians said no money is available for his community, yet cash can be found for migrants.

The complaints are not unique to Boston, and similar rows have broken out in other major cities.

In Chicago, a self-described sanctuary city, predominantly black residents have organized demonstrations and protests as migrants are prioritized over them and their children. Last year, as thousands arrived in the Windy City, black people gathered outside City Hall, furious that funding denied to them was suddenly available for new arrivals. One protestor said city officials describe the migrant crisis as a humanitarian issue, but black Chicagoans also face a humanitarian crisis that their leaders do not address.

Similarly, in New York, 2,000 migrants were moved from tents to a Brooklyn high school, forcing the kids to stay at home. Parents gathered outside James Madison High School, furious that their children were considered unimportant in comparison to illegal immigrants. Local anger was so high that a bomb threat was issued against the school, prompting police to investigate and declare the building safe.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams promised locals that the situation was temporary, but Adams has previously admitted that migration is “destroying” the Big Apple.
