(ProsperNews.net) – A former US military commander has warned that the Biden administration’s foreign policy is putting America at risk. Gen. Frank McKenzie, formerly of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), told Martha Raddatz on ABC News that America has brought global threats to its door, and groups like the splinter group ISIS-K are free to plan attacks on US soil. ISIS-K is an Afghan wing of ISIS, which formed in the aftermath of the US occupation and recently claimed responsibility for the terror attack on a Moscow concert that killed more than 100.
Addressing America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, McKenzie argued that the US should have left 2,500 troops in the country, which, together with NATO allies, could have ensured ISIS was kept under control there. “ISIS there is able to grow unabated. There’s no pressure on them,” he added.
General McKenzie has previously commanded US forces in the Middle East and believes America has a strong enough presence in Iraq and Syria to keep extremists under control in those countries, but, particularly in the wake of the attack on Moscow, he thinks ISIS-K will target the United States, saying this is now “inevitable.”
The former General furthermore noted the warning America issued to Russia weeks before the Moscow attack, but its leaders did not pay attention to the advice, meaning the splinter group was able to carry out a devastating assault that would have boosted its confidence and made it “bolder.”
Analysts also assume that ISIS-K has set its sights on European targets following its devastating success in Moscow. The UN estimates the group’s number to be between 4,000 and 6,000 members, and confirms that its leader is Sanaullah Ghafari, a 29-year-old who has transformed it into one of jihadism’s most ferocious branches.
ISIS-K is believed to recruit in some of Central Asia’s poorest nations, including Tajikistan, where most of the Moscow terrorists are from. The group also carried out an attack in Iran in January, killing 84.
