Biden Willing to Face Trump in Debate, Reveals in Interview

(ProsperNews.net) – President Biden has said he is willing to debate Donald Trump, ending months of speculation that he is avoiding the prospect. Trump has repeatedly challenged the President to debate his record in office, but Biden’s spokespeople insisted he would respond when the time was right.

A recent survey, however, revealed that three-quarters of American voters believe Biden would appear weak if he avoided a one-on-one confrontation with Donald Trump.

When Biden’s remarks became public, Donald Trump took to his Truth Social media account and offered times and places for the two contenders to meet. He invited the President to meet him in Michigan, a state he accused Biden of destroying with his electric vehicle (EV) policies. A second option was New York City, where Trump said he was “stuck in one of the many court cases” that Biden instigated against him to influence the outcome of the election.

It is the first time President Biden has confirmed he will debate his Republican rival. It comes as America’s most prominent news organizations came together to urge the two contenders to participate in televised debates in the run-up to November. The Commission on Presidential Debates confirmed it has scheduled three events in September and October in Virginia, Utah, and Texas, but no further details are yet available.

The first Presidential debate between Trump and Biden took place at the Case Western Reserve University in Ohio in September 2020. Biden was considered the frontrunner and was leading in the polls. Much discussion centered around the coronavirus pandemic, and the two men traded numerous insults.

In the aftermath, a number of polls suggested Biden was the victor, while significant percentages said the debate was an overwhelmingly negative affair. Some commentators stated that Trump had acted like a “bully” throughout, while others claimed host Chris Wallace was biased against President Trump. However, the Commission on Presidential Debates rejected the criticism and praised Mr. Wallace for his “professionalism and skill.”
