Biden Under Fire for Inability to Read the Room

(ProsperNews.net) – President Biden is once again under fire for making inappropriate remarks. The President arrived at the headquarters of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in Washington, DC, to plan a response to the hurricanes sweeping Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas – he opened his remarks with a joke. When obliged to turn his back on the audience to address the media, Biden quipped, “My mother would say, I apologize for my back.” There wasn’t much laughter in response.

A social media user wrote, “He never reads the room.” Another commented, “Inappropriate behavior. Filter almost gone.”

Category 3 hurricane Idalia hit Florida on the morning of August 30, bringing catastrophe to parts of the Sunshine State. Winds of 125mph hit the Big Bend region, and at least two people died in resultant car crashes. Another man was killed in Georgia when the storm spread northward, and thousands lost their homes as floods reached roof level. The hurricane was downgraded to a tropical storm before reaching the Carolinas, but authorities warned it still posed a lethal threat.

Nonetheless, President Biden appeared not to appreciate the gravity of the situation and repeated the blunders he made in Maui recently. Wildfires devastated the Hawaiian island in August, leaving more than 100 dead and thousands homeless, and the President’s first response was to say “no comment.” Even Democrats condemned his behavior.

When finally reaching the island, President Biden wore a lei (a floral necklace) and compared a kitchen fire at his home 15 years ago to the unfolding tragedy. Later, while touring the devasted city of Lahaina, Biden pointed out the boots worn by cadaver dogs to protect their paws from burning. “You guys catch the boots out here? That’s a hot ground, man,” the President said.

When he promised $700 each to Hawaiians who’d lost their homes, critics immediately pointed out that Biden managed to find billions of dollars for Ukraine but little for Americans. Donald Trump called his response “unacceptable.”
