(ProsperNews.net) – President Biden is losing the support of young voters, as well as blacks and Latinos, according to recent poll data. A USA Today/Suffolk University poll in early January revealed that one in five black voters would rather back a third-party candidate than President Biden. The President has additionally fallen behind Donald Trump with Hispanic voters, who now back Trump by 39% to Biden’s 34%. Young people’s support for Trump was at 37%, with just 33% backing Biden. The majority of both groups supported Biden in 2020.
The survey also revealed that Vice President Kamala Harris is unpopular across most demographic categories. Harris’s approval rating is lower than the President’s among black voters at 56%, compared to Biden’s 68%. She is also less popular among younger voters, with an approval rating of just 27%. Biden’s approval among the young is also low at 32%.
Support for third-party candidates in 2024 is higher than usual, and Robert F. Kennedy is the primary beneficiary. Kennedy, the nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy, is polling above 20% in several surveys – figures not seen since Ross Perot in the 1990s. According to an MSNBC report in early January, 28% of blacks in battleground states plan to vote for Kennedy this November. Worryingly for Biden, 25% fewer black voters are supporting him than in 2020.
In further bad news for the President, Trump has maintained the 12% of black voters who backed him in 2020, and his support among Latinos has grown. The USA Today/Suffolk University also revealed a significant gap in enthusiasm between Biden and Trump supporters. Almost half – 44% – of Trump supporters rated themselves a “10” on how enthusiastic they are about their candidate. Among Biden’s backers, that figure fell to 18%.
Donald Trump continues to dominate the Republican primary field despite Nikki Haley’s rapid rise. An Emerson College survey in January placed Trump at 54%, with Haley in second place at 25%.
