Biden Campaign Features Robert De Niro in Anti-Trump Courthouse Rally

(ProsperNews.net) – Hollywood veteran Robert DeNiro appeared outside the Manhattan courthouse where Donald Trump stood trial and railed against his supporters. The Goodfellas star, who has made no secret of his contempt for the former President, made a speech comparing Trump voters to “gangsters” and “clowns.” The actor was met with an angry response and exchanged words with several furious people before his security team whisked him away.

Before his departure, DeNiro said that New York City is used to “clowns,” which are tolerated because “each to his own.” He added, however, that a clown rising to the top of American politics and ruling the country from the White House is “unacceptable.”

Oscar winner DeNiro delivered his remarks just days before the Manhattan jury delivered a shock verdict and found former President Trump guilty on 34 counts, making him the only ex-US President to be convicted on a felony charge. Trump said the verdict was “disgraceful” and “rigged” by a “conflicted judge.” The jury took just over nine hours to deliver their verdict.

Legal experts say the matter will likely be held up for months in appeals and that it is unlikely that Trump will face any prison time. Factors the judge will take into account include the former President’s age, the non-violent nature of the offense, his lack of previous criminal behavior, and the practicalities of jailing a former President who is entitled to a lifetime of Secret Service security that would need to be incorporated into this sentence.

Experts suggest that a fine or probation is the most likely outcome. Grounds for appeal will likely center around the extent of the charges and arguments that the DA’s office over-reached in charging Mr. Trump with a felony rather than the misdemeanor offense of falsifying documents. Stormy Daniels’ testimony will also likely feature in any appeal, with defense attorneys expected to argue that her statements to the court were unnecessarily detailed and, therefore, capable of prejudicing the jury.
