(ProsperNews.net) – The Biden administration gave $90,000 to a terror-linked Palestinian organization just weeks before the deadly attack on Israeli civilians on October 7. NGO Monitor, an organization that documents government spending, reported the State Department authorized two payments to the Phoenix Center for Research and Field Studies located at the Gaza University in August and September. The center hosts senior members of Palestinian terror groups that call for “armed resistance” against Israel.
NGO Monitor notes that Salah Abdalati, a director at the Phoenix Center, regularly calls for “resistance” against Israel, which it describes as a “code” for terrorism. Earlier this year, for example, Abdalati wrote that “other forms and methods of ingenuitive combat” must be embraced by Palestinians who must prepare for “total intifada.”
In the wake of the attack on Israel, the Biden administration has come under fire for funding Palestinian groups, with critics noting that Biden reversed a Trump policy to end aid that could benefit Hamas. In 2021, the White House announced a restart of funding with $10 million for “peacebuilding programs” and $150 million in humanitarian assistance. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, “US foreign assistance for the Palestinian people serves important US interests and values.”
A group of Democrats, led by Rep. Pramila Jayapal, has now called on Congress to include Palestinian funding in an aid package for Israel. The 50 Democrats wrote to President Biden, saying, “We cannot achieve lasting peace and security for Israelis without addressing the humanitarian crises in Gaza and the West Bank.”
Meanwhile, Democratic Reps. Cori Bush and Rashida Tlaib introduced a resolution to the House of Representatives calling on the US government to facilitate “the entry of humanitarian assistance to Gaza.” When Bush posted the resolution on Twitter, she was rebuked for failing to mention the American citizens kidnapped by Hamas. One person wrote, “We have congress members more worried about people who support Hamas than the 29 Americans that were murdered by Hamas.”
