(ProsperNews.net) – An Arizona judge has dismissed Democrat attempts to prevent No Labels from becoming a legitimate political party. Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Katherine Cooper rejected Democrat claims that No Labels had filed deficient paperwork, but she did open the door for the case to be refiled with new arguments.
Many Democrats believe a third party in electoral races would favor the Republicans, particularly Donald Trump, in the 2024 Presidential election. However, a third option is becoming increasingly popular with voters. No Labels leaders, who obtained tens of thousands of signatures to support their right to compete at elections, said the ruling boosted the democratic system.
Benjamin Chavis Jr. and Jay Nixon, joint leaders of the party, said, “This is an important win for American democracy and a testament to the power of over 41,000 Arizona voters who signed to give No Labels ballot access in Arizona.”
The objection from the Democrats came in July when they filed a complaint with Secretary of State Adrian Fontes saying No Labels must disclose its donors or lose its political party status. Fontes, a Democrat, provoked fury within his own party when he gave his blessing to the establishment of No Labels as a party in the Grand Canyon State.
Arizona is a crucial battleground state which Joe Biden won by less than half a percentage point in 2020. No Labels, who are active in other states, say they will put forward a third option for President if the two big parties nominate “unreasonably divisive” candidates.
The party describes itself as “the common sense majority” standing for the millions of Americans tired of partisanship and division in Washington, DC. Its leaders have expressed concerns about Donald Trump, and even said they would back away from the 2024 election if it looked like they were helping him, but some Democrats remain angry about its very existence. New Hampshire Democrat Rep. Annie Kuster said it uses a “false message of unity to sow division.”
