(ProsperNews.net) – A former aide to Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pocketed almost $140,000 from a super PAC aimed at targeting Senators Joe Manchin and Kirsten Sinema. Corbin Trent founded the No Excuses PAC after leaving the Congresswoman’s office, where he worked as communications director in 2019.
Filings with the Federal Election Commission, however, show that Trent paid himself $140,000 while spending only $14,000 on ads related to Manchin and Sinema. Trent has justified the spending, saying he earned the money for doing TV appearances that furthered the PAC’s primary cause.
More recently, the PAC appears to have changed direction and now seeks to encourage Democrats to replace Joe Biden as the party’s Presidential candidate in 2024.
In its latest fundraiser, No Excuses states that President Biden is losing to Donald Trump “in almost every battleground state,” and as such, “Biden should step aside and allow a Democratic primary in which Democratic voters can choose a candidate who can beat Trump.” It asks for donations to create a national television advertisement opposing Joe Biden’s candidacy.
The Biden campaign has faltered over recent months, with pressure piled on from various sides. Many on the left are angered at the President’s pro-Israel stance, and this has impacted his support among younger voters. In November, polling showed that disapproval of Biden from people aged 18 to 34 had risen to 57%. A 70% majority disapproved of his handling of the Israel-Hamas war.
The President is also losing the support of black and Hispanic voters. In a December USA Today/Suffolk University poll, Biden’s support among black voters had dropped from around 90% in 2020 to just 63%.
Similarly, Hispanic voters are turning away from the President, with 39% now supporting Donald Trump, compared to 34% who back Biden. In 2020, Biden won the votes of 65% of Hispanics.
Trump’s campaign gained a major boost when he swept the board in the Iowa caucuses on January 15. Mr. Trump won 51% of the Hawkeye State’s vote.
