(ProsperNews.net) – The vast majority of illegal immigrants have been allowed to stay in America under the Biden administration. A new congressional report, released by House Republicans on October 9, reveals that a staggering 99% of migrants are allowed to remain, and of those, only a tiny fraction are vetted to test the legitimacy of their asylum claim.
“A mere six percent of illegal aliens released into the United States were even screened for fear of persecution in their home country for purposes of asylum,” the report states. Furthermore, of the millions that crossed the border since 2021, only 5,993 were deported.
The study was initiated by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and Immigration Subcommittee Chairman Tom McClintock, who say its findings completely contradict the reassurances from Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who has consistently maintained that the border is secure and illegal migrants are deported.
A September study by Syracuse University found that 3.8 million people have come to America illegally since Joe Biden entered the White House. Of those, 2,345,600 people have been granted Notices to Appear (NTAs) before an immigration judge. These notices are given to people who enter the US illegally but then hand themselves over to law enforcement or border agencies. Many never appear before a judge, and the wait to do so can stretch on for years.
Border officials estimate that there are around 1.5 million migrants who have not handed themselves over to law enforcement, thereby bringing the actual number of border crossers to almost 4 million.
The Department of Homeland Security and the White House endured criticism from Democrats when the government performed an apparent U-turn and announced the resumed construction of a wall along the southern border. Alejandro Mayorkas, who has previously defended mass immigration, said there is now an “acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers.”
