(ProsperNews.net) – Border patrol agents arrested five child abusers in a single weekend, according to officials. US Border Patrol (USBP) Chief Jason Owens said agents detained the predators across the Yuma, Tucson, El Paso, Del Rio, and Rio Grande Valley sectors. The suspects have criminal histories, including sexual assaults against children, and according to the FBI, they are among a worryingly high number of serious criminals entering the United States illegally.
Director Christopher Wray warned of a “wide array” of threats to American safety resulting from the porous southern border, including deadly drugs such as Fentanyl and violent organized criminal gangs.
At a recent Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on criminal migrants, Floridian Senator Marco Rubio asked Mr. Wray for specific details on these threats, and he replied by stating that the FBI seized enough Fentanyl in the last two years to kill 270 million people.
Additionally, Wray said, “We’ve had dangerous individuals enter the United States of a variety of sorts.” Among the crimes such individuals commit include buying and selling fake identities, which Wray said is prominent on the dark web.
Furthermore, smuggling networks are taking people to the US from all over the world, and Mr. Wray noted that the FBI is “very concerned” about how many smuggled migrants have ties to terror groups such as ISIS. He said the federal agency is “spending an enormous amount of time” investigating these.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released its annual Threat Assessment report. In it, National Intelligence Director Avril Haines warns that the Middle East conflict has increased the terror threat to the United States, particularly in light of the federal government’s support of Israel. She warned that Al Qaeda and ISIS “have directed supporters to conduct attacks against Israeli and US interests.”
Ms. Haines, who was present at the Senate hearing, also noted the dangers of Fentanyl and said it is killing tens of thousands of Americans.
