(ProsperNews.net) – The 19-year-old son of a former YouTube CEO has been found dead in his university dorm room. The freshman student, son of Susan Wojcicki, died at UC Berkeley’s Clark Kerr campus on February 13. Local fire officers attempted life-saving measures, but to no avail – he was pronounced dead at the scene.
No cause of death was immediately stated, but subsequent media reports suggest Marco Troper experimented with drugs. His grandmother, Esther Wojcicki, said that college kids experiment “with everything,” and she believes this was “an experiment that went wrong.”
Wojcicki paid tribute to her grandson, calling him kind, smart, loving, and beautiful. In a Facebook post, she wrote that her family is “devastated beyond comprehension.” She told California media that he ingested a drug, but she did not name it or speculate any further.
Troper, son of Susan Wojcicki, who served as CEO of YouTube from 2014 to 2023, and her husband Dennis Troper, was one of five children and in his second semester at UC Berkeley, studying science.
Online speculation suggests Fentanyl may be implicated in Troper’s death. Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly tweeted that he died from a “pill,” likely laced with Fentanyl. “One pill can kill,” Kelly warned.
The United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) launched its One Pill Can Kill awareness campaign last year, hoping to inform Americans of the danger and prevalence of Fentanyl. Its Public Safety Alert notes that the DEA seized a record 74.5 million Fentanyl pills in 2023 and that 70% of pills seized contain a lethal dose.
An information page explicitly aimed at teenagers states that criminal networks are producing fake pills that look like legitimate prescriptions and that recreational drugs are often laced with the killer concoction. These are often sold online on social media platforms.
Fentanyl produces an intense high, the agency says, and when this passes, users feel faint and nauseous as their blood pressure drops and their respiratory system slows; seizures and death may result.
